Today is another movie deep dive, but this time it's all about comedies. Each host narrowed down their picks to three comedies they would bring along if they were heading to a deserted island. Plus, you'll hear a few audience submissions. Make sure to follow on Instagram so you can submit your choices for future episodes.

Here's a quick overview of the main topics covered, along with applicable links to help you dive into their selections.

Mitch's Desert Island Comedies:

Superbad

This 2007 comedy is a coming-of-age story set during the guys' senior year of high school. There was some discussion about how you remember a movie depending on the age you were when you saw it. This movie is very quotable for both Mitch and Alex, but Justin admitted to never having seen it.

This is Spinal Tap

Mockumentaries are a favorite for Mitch. He loves some improv on screen, and this 1984 movie was 99% made up in the moment, with only loose outlines. It's incredibly iconic and is still quoted by musicians today. Some rock stars even commented that it might have looked a bit too similar to their own reality in the music industry.

I Love You, Man

We already know that Mitch loves Paul Rudd, so it makes sense that he included something featuring him. Rudd plays a "girl's guy" who realizes he has no male friends to be his best man, so he sets out to find a bromance. Jason Segel enters, and even though you kind of hate his character, you're entertained by their dynamic.

Alex's Desert Island Comedies:

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery

Mike Myers plays the hilarious James Bond-esque character who cannot be taken seriously as a spy. He also plays multiple side characters in the movie. Alex couldn't even read the character names without laughing out loud. This led to a great conversation about the best SNL characters to make it to the big screen. Is it Austin Powers, Wayne, Garth, or maybe MacGruber?

The Big Lebowski

Another consistent choice for Alex since he picked The Coen Brothers during the director's episode. Alex believes this is Jeff Bridges' greatest role, and the cast is excellent. It's a classic. Plus, you get to find out which of the three guys would wear a robe in public. And if you find yourself craving a White Russian right now, you are not alone.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

The whole group could align on this one. Another Jason Segel classic and probably the only thing Russell Brand did that was any good. Plus, you get a movie inside the movie with the Dracula musical. Justin's Desert Island Comedies:

We're the Millers

This was the most controversial pick of them all because Alex had some serious opinions. Not about the movie itself, but more about the writers and their view on being successful writers. It's worth listening to that rant alone. I'm not sure exactly what interview Alex read, but you can learn more about them here. If you like a strong cast with a questionable storyline, give it a try.

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story

Weirdly done by the same director as We're the Millers, this underdog tale features Ben Stiller as a villain (which everyone agreed is the funniest version of him). Dodgeball is all about the underdog and takes something very simple and lets the cast get a little wild with it. It's a perfect, toned-down Vince Vaughn and all kinds of hilarious cameos.

Funny Farm

This Chevy Chase classic is lesser known than Vacation or Fletch, but it comes packed with nostalgia for Justin. It's a classic fish-out-of-water story in which the big-city writer moves to a small town in the country for a life that resembles a Norman Rockwell painting. That's not how things went. If you can find this classic, give it a try.

Final Thoughts

The guys discussed many movies that were considered, but didn't make the cut. Some include Princess Bride, The Great Outdoors, Happy Gilmore, and Summer Rental.

Alex's island was the most popular according to the hosts, but we'd love to hear what you think.
