With Halloween a few days away, it makes sense to dive into the horror genre. Each host picks three desert-island horror watchables. If you're looking for something scary to dive into this holiday week, we've got nine great options.
Justin Picks
Psycho - Only the original 1960 movie (not the remake). This is a classic horror film, and Hitchcock was doing things that had never been done.
Gremlins - An excellent horror comedy that also fits in the Christmas movie category. He loves the sequel and cannot wait for the 3rd movie to be released next year.
American Horror Story - 13 seasons of Ryan Murphy's anthology show cover multiple horror topics from covens to asylums to cults. Justin has only seen the first five seasons, but feels confident that this would keep him entertained for a while on the island.
Alex Picks
Midnight Mass - A Mike Flanagan Netflix show with one season that Alex loves, though he recommended every other show he's produced.
Cabin in the Woods - This is more of a satire horror movie, but it's one of Alex's favorite movie theater experiences. Chris Hemsworth's big role as Thor helped bring this movie some extra attention when it was released.
Signs - M. Night Shyamalan's breakout project was Alex's 3rd pick. It's a science fiction thriller about crop circles.
Mitch Picks
X-Files - The number of episodes covering the supernatural helps this qualify in the horror category. The guys talk about the Bryan Cranston episode that helped him land the role of Walter White in Breaking Bad.
Shaun of the Dead - This zombie movie is another horror/comedy, but mostly comedy.
Alien - This 1979 movie is a favorite for all the hosts. It's a science fiction horror film starring Sigourney Weaver.
